Notice is hereby given that a Public Meeting for the Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust will be held on Thursday 29th October 2015 for the following purposes:
- To appoint elected Trustees
- To present the Annual Report of the Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust
- To present the accounts for the period ending 31st March 2015 and appoint auditors
The current Trustees are: Iain M Maciver (Laxay), Angus D McDowall (Habost), Peter Maclennan (Laxay), Mary McDowall (Balallan), Ken Roddy Mackay (Balallan), Angus Campbell (Ardvourlie), Donnie Morrison (Habost), and Marilyn Macdonald (Kershader). We also have two co-opted Trustees; they are Jan Gold (Keose) and Miranda Campbell (Ardvourlie).
Under the terms of the Deed of Trust, half of the Trustees are required to stand down after 3 years and / or after 6 years of continuous service.
Therefore the following Trustees are due to stand down:
- Iain M Maciver
- Angus D McDowall
- Jan Gold
- Miranda Campbell
- Angus Campbell
Invitations are therefore invited from members of the Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust who are interested in standing for election as a Charity Trustee. MCWFT Trustees are ultimately responsible for the strategy, direction, control and management of the Trust and requires active participation through attendance at regular monthly meetings and contribution through email correspondence.
Members must be registered on the Trust Membership electoral roll by Friday 2nd October to be entitled to stand as a Trustee, propose or second a Nomination and to vote in the election. Nomination forms will be sent to all members and are also available from the Trust Office. Membership forms are also available from the Trust Office. To become a member you must be a resident for 40 weeks or more in the Muaitheabhal Trust area and support the purposes of the MCWFT.
Nominations for Trustees must be submitted by 4pm on Thursday 6th October 2015.
To be eligible for election the candidate must be a member of the Trust. Candidates must be proposed and seconded by existing members of the Trust.
The Trust accepts no responsibility for Nomination Papers delivered other than directly to the Trust Manager, nor for any that might have been sent by post and which may not therefore reach the Trust Office by the closing time for nominations. Candidates wishing to withdraw their nomination must inform the Trust office of their intention to do so by 4pm on Thursday 8th October 2015.
If the number of validly nominated candidates does not exceed the number of vacant Trustee positions (five), candidates will be elected unopposed, with effect from Friday 9th October.
The results will be announced at the Public meeting and through the Trust website, newsletter and other media outlets. If the number of validly nominated candidates exceeds the number of vacant Trustee positions, an election will take place by postal ballot. The election will be administered by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Election Team and the count will be held on Thursday 29 October 2015 in Balallan Old School at 7.30pm.
